Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde adapted from the work of Robert Louis Stevenson, by Lorenzo Mattotti & Jerry Kramsky.  New York:  NBM, 2002.  ISBN 1-56163-330-5

Top 10

This adaptation of the famous work by Robert Louis Stevenson uses haunting illustrations in warm tones to capture the older reader with its horrific theme regarding the polarity of mankind.  The color red provides a vivid backdrop to this tale of the duplicitous Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and the age old tale of good vs. evil.

Censorship Alert:  London brothels and sadistic themes abound and strong sexual content may cause pressure to remove this novel from School Media Centers.  Although it may be tempting to remove the book or avoiding it completely, it does provide a “look” into Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous and haunting story that would appeal to the older student.  In addition, the artwork alone is worth inclusion.

Media:  Acrylic: Full Color.
