ISBN: 0761452346

Art: Black and white comic style drawings.

Genre and Themes: Fiction, Humor, Family

Age Range:  Grades 4-6

What the book is about: Stories of road trip adventures told from a dog’s eye view.  Down Girl, who is the narrating dog, tells of adventures she has when traveling with her master Rruff.  Camping, a Beach trip and a trip to the Vet’s (the Lady in the White Coat) are all included.  This story is best when it does not push the cuteness factor.

Notes: Smarter Than Squirrels is the first book in this series; Life on the Road is the second. Good book for reluctant readers.

Rating: P4/Q3
