Giffen, K. & Rogers, J. (2006). Blue beetle volume one: shellschocked. Hamner, C. (Illus.). New York: DC Comics. 1401209653. 5Q/5P. Artwork is pen and ink.
There’s a new superhero in town and his name is Blue Beetle! High school student Jaime finds a mysterious blue rock that ends up changing his life forever.
Personification: This graphic novel is a perfect example of personification. Personification is when living traits are given to inanimate objects. In this book the teenage boy, Jaime finds a blue scarab that attaches to his spine and turns him into a superhero. The scarab talks to Jaime in a different language and controls his armor when Jaime is unable to, even though it is a supposedly non-living object.
