This is a brief overview about the Tuskegee Airman and their role in the armed forces during Worl War II.  The picture book emphasizes the role of all military personnel who participated in the Tuskegee program and how the program was successful both in the United States and in World War II.

Curriculum Connection: This book would be used to introduce the role African Americans during World War II.  Appropriate for grades fifth through seventh,, this book will help initiate discussion and and provide topics for further discussion.  These topics include what other vocations were African Americans not aloud to participate in prior to Word War II?  What were the lasting effects of Tuskegee program?  Were women allowed to join the Army Air Corp and if so which were available to them? History/Social Studies
